We currently run vehicles in the Peugeot 205 Challenge and the BRSCC Ford XR Challenge and Saloon Car Championships.
The Peugeot 205 GTi driven by Phil Scholes and co-driven by Jamie Foster is next competing on the 21st of September. This round of the challenge was supposed to be run on the Lindisfarne Rally, but due to military manoeuvres, this event is being replaced with a run of the Weeton Barracks Stages near Blackpool. Watch this page for further details and links to the event.
The Ford Fiesta XR2 driven by Jason Hennefer has it’s next rounds at Anglesey race circuit on the 6th and 7th of September. Keep watching for further details of this meeting and updates of the season to date. We currently have in build a Mk3 Ford Fiesta for next years inaugural Junior Championship. This new championship will run alongside Ford Racing UK’s 3 current classes for 2009. The cars will run to the current Fiesta regulations based on the MK3 Fiesta bodyshell with the 130PS 1.8 Zetec engine and the Si silhouette. The drivers are to be between the ages of 14 and 17, therefore giving them an introduction to racing without having to spend big money. The car will be driven by Jack Wharton and we are looking for another young driver to run in the series, so if you are in Karts and want a change, or are simply looking to get into motorsport and have a suitable budget, give us a call. Our second Junior car is to be based around the new Junior Rally Championship announced by the MSA. The cars are to be no larger than 1.2 litres in engine capacity and the stages will be basic in design. This is an ideal way for youngster to learn the rallying art and is an addition to junior rallycross and junior racing. The car in build is a Nissan Micra 1.0 16v. This type of car is used very well in the Formula 1000 rally series and it will be driven by Dean Wharton. If rallying is your thing, you are aged between 14 and 17 and have a budget in mind, then give us a call and join in. Other cars in build and available for either sale on completion, event hire or full season use are:- Renault 5 rallycross car - fitted with 1.8 16v Clio engine Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6 Rally car - built to Challenge spec, but will be available for other events.
We also have our Ford Fiesta XR2 Rally Car. This car was used in Stock Hatch 1600 guise in 2007 by Angela Wharton in the British Open Rallycross Championship. Angela finished a creditable 13th overall out of 36 competitors in her first ever season of motorsport and this included missing the final two rounds of the championship. The Fiesta in use was also the only vehicle running on standard carburettor and had no fuel injection system. It is no fitted with Twin 40 Webbers and a full free-flow exhaust system.
Keep checking this page for details of our cars and drivers. Remember, you too could appear on this page, so go on - get into serious competition with Wharton Motorsport. |
